From December 26th to 27th, the 1st Beijing University Students' "AI+" Innovation Competition, which featured 222 teams from 55 universities, concluded successfully at Beijing University of Technology. As an important partner and technical support unit of the competition, HighTorque Robotics successfully organized the "Green Pitch Showdown – Humanoid Robot 3v3 Soccer" event.

All 16 participating teams competed with HighTorque Robotics’ Mini Pi+ humanoid robots. Over two days, 15 matches were held with zero hardware failures throughout the entire event, earning unanimous high praise from both the organizers and the participating teams.
Anyone who regularly organizes robot competitions knows that pulling off a successful event seems extremely challenging—and it actually is no easy feat at all. This is especially true for soccer matches, where getting 6 or even more robots to compete autonomously at the same time is the biggest hurdle.
With 16 teams each requiring 3 humanoid robots, that adds up to 48 robots—and over 60 in total when including backups. Delivering all of them within just 3 weeks was a tremendous challenge to our delivery capacity and product consistency.
What’s more, the 16 participating teams completed algorithm deployment and debugging in a mere 2 weeks, which put the product maturity, ease of use, and professionalism of our technical support to an enormous test.
From project initiation to competition completion in just 2 months, this fully demonstrates that we are fully capable of hosting humanoid robot competitions.
The humanoid robot Mini Pi+ used in this competition is a new-generation compact humanoid robot independently developed by HighTorque Robotics with full-stack capabilities. It adopts the modular design and open SDK pioneered by HighTorque Robotics, and is also the world’s first high-performance humanoid robot weighing under 15kg.
As a flagship product honed by HighTorque Robotics over 5 years, Mini Pi+ has undergone numerous rounds of technical iteration, ultimately evolving into a cost-effective development platform for humanoid robots.
Mini Pi+ boasts distinct advantages such as high integration, compact flexibility, and complete functionality. With an overall height of approximately 65 cm, 22 degrees of freedom, a self-weight of 13 kg and a load capacity of 10 kg, it delivers robust performance and is ideally suited for robotic soccer competitions.
In addition, HighTorque Robotics has collaborated with top international RoboCup teams to develop a complete set of open-source routines for the Mini Pi+ tailored to competition needs (https://github.com/HighTorque-Robotics/RoboCup_Workspace), achieving a full closed loop for soccer perception and motion. Participating teams can complete the entire process from technical initiation to full-stack development and implementation—including whole-body motion control, visual perception, and upper-layer communication strategies—within just 2 weeks.
HighTorque Robotics’ in-house manufacturing strength and technical assurance capabilities were also an indispensable part of the competition’s success. Within three weeks, HighTorque Robotics completed the production and delivery of standardized Mini Pi+ robots, providing a uniform-specification, stable-performance competitive platform for 16 official teams. Moreover, over 60 humanoid robots maintained 100% hardware failure-free operation throughout 15 matches held over two days. This not only guaranteed the fairness of the competition but also ensured the smooth progress of the event, demonstrating the enterprise’s robust strength in large-scale production and quality control.
"The Mini Pi+ robot is extremely stable and boasts excellent algorithm scalability, providing robust support for us to implement complex tactical strategies." After receiving their Mini Pi+ units, participating teams were able to directly carry out secondary development based on the full-stack open-source routines. This feature has been highly praised by all team members, which also clearly reflects the recognition of Mini Pi+ among students for its technical scalability and practical applicability.
The success of this humanoid robot soccer match once again demonstrates that HighTorque Robotics has always adhered to its vision of "Enabling every developer to own a humanoid robot". With its self-developed full-stack hardware and software ecosystem as the core, the company continues to drive the popularization and application of humanoid robot technology.
Looking ahead, HighTorque Robotics will further optimize the Mini Pi+ product system and competition-oriented education solutions, connect with more authoritative domestic and international competition resources, and promote the in-depth integration of robot technology across research, education, and industrial scenarios.
